Director Boyd comments on Colorado's role in Artemis missions

Colorado has the second-largest aerospace economy in the country, which can be traced back to the Air Force base just north of Colorado Springs, founded in the 1950’s. Today, NASA’s spaceship Orion was designed by hundreds of Lockheed engineers in Denver, and many other Colorado companies are involved a variety of ways.


We have over 200 companies in this state that are contributing to the Artemis project

According to ACCESS director Iain Boyd, CU Boulder is a hub of activity, “Space is really a focus for the universities because our graduates have lots of opportunities to go out and work in aerospace”. Artemis I successfully launched on November 16, 2022.
