ACCESS Institute kicks off today at the University of Colorado
The kickoff meeting for the new ACCESS NASA Space Technology Research Institute was held on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Led by ACCESS Director Iain Boyd, the kickoff meeting featured presentations from institute task leads on hypersonic flow processes, material and structural response, uncertainty quantification, and an integrated simulation framework.
Representatives from NASA Headquarters and research centers were in attendance to provide early feedback on the initial plans for the institute. Funded at $15M for five years, ACCESS aims to develop a comprehensive approach for estimating the reliability of hypersonic entry systems used by NASA for space exploration.
